The Present Moment

Don’t chase the echo of days gone past,

Nor grasp at dreams too far, too fast.

The clock hands move, but here you stand;

with open heart, and open hand.

The sun spills gold on silent trees,

a whisper rides the morning breeze.

The world is here, in breath, in beat,

not in tomorrow’s swift retreat.

Regret will dig a hollow grave,

worry’s tide is hard to brave.

Peace resides where feet now tread;

Not in the "might," but what is said.

The cup you hold is full today,

though time may steal it all away.

So drink it warm, and taste it deep,

leave no joy for time to keep.

The present moment, vast yet still,

Holds more than future ever will.

No need to run, no need to wait,

Be present; just breathe; participate.
