The Moment Passed

She used to need the final say,

to prove she's won, and got her way.

Each word she used was sharp and clear,

truths that cut through all most dear.

She built her case, she stood so tall,

and love diminished through it all.

The pain she caused, no joy, no cheer,

words that cut and thoughts unclear.

She did not know his wars inside,

she did not hear his silent cries.

Her child drowned in hidden sin,

she did not care to look within.

Forsaken whispers in her mind,

“You don’t have to win every time."

Let it go before it's too late,

before they lock up all their gates.

Moment passed, he could not last,

it all happened way too fast.

Now she learns, though bitter cost,

a mother’s love, so deeply lost.

Being kind outweighs being right,

in quiet we heal with gentle light.
