Pause to Choose
We say the things we want to say,
The urge to be heard, the only way.
It's quick, it's sharp, it's impulse led,
No thoughts of how our words may shred.
At times it cuts deep and bleeds,
The hurt remains, we sowed the seed.
We soon forget what drove it then,
And shift the blame to react to them.
But self awareness holds the quiet key,
A pause to choose what words should be.
For if we pause and think again,
Our words may change, our storms may end.
