How We Truly Grow
When windows sealed, when walls are high,
no breeze of change can cross our sky.
The silence kept are locked, contained,
we discover our fears have reigned.
For nothing grows when hearts shut tight,
we feel the sun but it's out of sight.
A mind so small, yet fortress strong,
knows no right and knows no fault.
But when the latch begins to turn,
a glimpse of courage, lessons learned.
A spark, a glow, perhaps a light,
the world may even shimmer bright.
Take a risk, we might get bruised,
outstretched hands can get refused.
But if we don't try reach them out,
we let our fears win, full of doubts.
So open heart and open mind,
we never know what we can find.
Free our guard and free our soul,
for this is how we can truly grow.
