Circumstances
Circumstances are situations we encounter that do not create who we are, but they reveal who we’ve always been beneath the surface; pressure, success, failure or uncertainty can peel back layers, but it is our experiences and how we interpret, respond and learn from them that will uncover our true character, especially when there’s nothing left to hide. Hardship can expose resilience or fragility; power can reveal generosity or selfishness. Life should not shape us from the outside; it reflects us in the quiet, unguarded moments; it unveils who we are beneath the surface by holding up a mirror to the parts of ourselves we so often keep hidden. Circumstances may not define us, but if we allow it, they can offer a rare opportunity, a glimpse to see ourselves with honesty; to choose, with intention, who we really want to become next.
